NOTE:
Very fine “cracks” also called crazing, will form inside your pot as you use it and are not a defect. These allow the water’s micropores to be released evenly into the food during cooking.
Over time and with frequent use, your clay pot will darken, retaining scorch marks and stains but developing an appealing patina.

USE & MAINTENANCE:
- When using terracotta for the first time, it should be washed thoroughly in warm water.
- Do not use detergent or soap as this will likely block the delicate pores.
- Your terracotta piece can be used in the oven.
- After use and wash, allow to air dry completely before storing it.
- To clean use a nylon scrubber or brush with a little baking soda. For stubborn stains, soak overnight. Recommended use is 2 tablespoons of baking soda per quart of water.
- It’s necessary to take extra care when removing the hot terracotta plate from the oven. Be sure to use oven mitts or baker’s pads and place the plate on a trivet, a wooden board, or a folded towel.
- If it comes into sudden contact with a cold work surface it could crack. Always allow the plate to cool down before placing it into cold water
